Yamaha announces media controllers neoHD and neoHD WiFi

Yamaha neoHD YMC-500 media controllerYamaha has announced two units of what they call "media controllers"; the neoHD with the model name YMC-500 and the neoHD WiFi with the model name YMC-700. The neoHD media controllers will connect the users HD entertainment system and give the abillity to control of home and Internet components and sources connected to a home AV system. When the user powers on the neoHD, three choices are presented: "Watch", "Listen" and "Play" to be followed by more in-depth choices as the user chooses an option. The neoHD units can control up to six other AV components such as TVs, Blu-ray players, set-top-boxes, DVD-players and such. neoHD Wifi, or YMC-700 is equipped with wireless Internet connectivity as well as corded ethernet connectivity which allows HD streaming from computers. Both models have three HDMI inputs and USB connectivity for iPod-playback or USB-stick media.

Both the neoHD models are available now with a starting price tag at $ 799.95 USD for the neoHD WiFi YMC-700 and $ 599.95 for the neoHD YMC-500. Read more

Guitar Hero: Greatest hits

Is titled "Guitar Hero: Smash hits" outside Europe and Australia and features 48 songs taken from the five previous games, but now supports lead guitar, bass guitar drums and vocals for all songs. Guitar Hero: Greatest hits will be out in June 16 in North America and on June 26 in Europe at the consoles Playstation 2, Playsation 3, Nintendo Wii and Xbox 360.

Harry Potter and The Half-blood prince

Is the video game adaption of the new movie with the same name. It will be out on the most consoles, such as Nintendo DS, Playstation 2, Playstation 3, PSP, Nintendo Wii, Xbox 360 - as well as on Microsoft Windows, Mac OS X and Mobile. The release dates are June 30 and July 3 in UK. 

Trials HD

Is a downloadable game for Xbox Live arcade where the player performs crazy stunts with a motorcycle. It will be released on July 22 on Xbox 360. 

BlazBlue: Calamity Trigger

Is a two-dimensional manga-styled fighting arcade game with 3D graphics. It was released on Arcade in Fall 2008 but now it will be out on Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 on June 25 in Japan and on June 30 in North America.  

High speed chase 2.0

Is a iPod Touch/iPhone-game available from July 1 on Apple's App store for 99 American cents. In the game you race across the highway and use your fingers for jumping, bumping and shooting at other cars.

ASUS releases specifications for the SBC-04D1S-U External Slim Blu-ray drive

ASUS SBC-04D1S-U External Slim Blu-ray driveASUS has released specifications for their upcoming SBC-04D1S-U External Slim Blu-ray drive. The SBC-04D1S-U is a external drive which connects to your computer's USB 2.0 port and it supports reading 4.8X BD-ROM/RE and writing 8X DVD+R/+RW. It is only available for Windows operating systems though.
SBC-04D1S-U supports TrueTheater High Definition (TTHD) which upscales standard definition content into HD-quality images on high-resolution displays. It comes bundled with software from Cyberlink and the abillity to protect content on discs with Disc Encryption to password protect an entire or a part of a disc. No release date or starting price has been released for ASUS SBC-04D1S-U yet, but we will definitely bring you that information when it's out. Read more

LG announces the two ultra slim LCD TVs 55LH95 and 55LH93

LG 55LH-series LCD TVLG has announced two new ultra-slim "Full LED" LCD TVs in the hometown Seoul. The new models are called 55LH95 and 55LH93 and are both 55-inch LCD TVs. Both models features 500 000:1 in contrast ratio and a refresh rate of 240 Hz with a thickness of the TV itself of only 24.8 mm, thanks to a patented technology. The models features a new innovation that will allow the user to send content from DVD players, game consoles or home-theater units wirelessly without any degradation. How that is supposed to work is yet unknown.
LG will unveil less expensive 42-inch and 47-inch full LED LCD TVs by the end of the year without the ultra-slim design. 

Both 55LH95 and 55LH93 will be released in July 2009 with a starting price tag of KRW 7 million ($ 5500 USD) for the 55LH93 model and KRW 7.6 million ($ 5900 USD) for the 55LH95 model. Read more

Eizo releases FORIS FX2431 LCD monitor

Eizo FORIS FX2431 LCD monitorEizo has announced that they're now shipping the FORIS FX2431 LCD monitor. FORIS FX2431, which is the first FORIS monitor to be sold outside Japan, is a 24.1-inch Full HD LCD monitor designed for movie watchers and gamers. The FORIS FX2431 has two HDMI inputs, built-in speakers, composite- and S-video inputs. Up to four computers can be connected at once to the monitor using all the different inputs. It features the new "Auto USB Selection" and two upstream USB ports for simultaneous sharing of one keyboard and mouse between two connected computers.
FORIS FX2431 native resolution is 1920 x 1200 pixels, but that doesn't stop the user from playing old video games, such as 8-bit games - as they can be played in double the original size without distortion or blur, thanks to a mode called "Real Image". FORIS FX2431 has a dynamic contrast ratio between 1000:1 to 2000:1 depending on settings and a maximum brightness of 360cd/m2 as well as a response time of 6 ms.
Eizo's FORIS FX2431 LCD monitor is out now at some retailers with an unknown price. Read more (PDF)

OmniVision announces 5-megapixel solution for DSC and mobile devices, enabling 1080p mobile recording

OmniVision 1.75-micron OmniBSI family for mobile phonesOmniVision has announced their new 5-megapixel solution for DSC (Digital System Cameras) and mobile devices, the OV5653 sensor chip. OV5653 enables 720p recording at 60fps and Full HD 1080p recording at 30fps, which according to OmniVision makes it ideal for both 5-megapixel DSCs and DVs (Digital Videocameras).
The OV5653 belongs to the 1.75-micron OmniBSI family which also includes the 5-megapixel OV5650 RAW sensor for high resolution mobile phone cameras. The family also has the 2-megapixel OV2665 SoC, designed to deliver high image quality to the mass market. OmniVision's OV5653 chip and the other new ones in the 1.75-micron OmniBSI family will be released for volume production in the second half of 2009. Read more

Seiko Epson OLED screenSeiko Epson earlier announced a new solution for large Full HD OLED TVs (Read) and now they have the vision of 37-inch and larger inkjet-printed OLED TVs in the year 2012. Seiko Epson estimates that the year 2012 will be the year when 37-inch OLED TVs will be launched by various makers and that 2015 will be when the sales will really take off for the market. Read more

Some Sharp LCD monitors risks being banned in U.S.A.

Sharp verus SamsungSome LCD displays from Sharp should be banned from the U.S. according to U.S. trade agency. Japanese Sharp uses a technology that infringes patented technology owned by by South Korean Samsung. Samsung issued four different claims of patent infingements, but they only won the one called "Liquid Crystal Display having wide viewing angel" from 2004.
LCD TVs from Sharp made overseas that uses the patented inventions by Samsung risks being banned in the U.S. Among the models that violated the patented, the Aquos line of HDTVs is included. Sharp hasn't already got the full decision, but it does not look good. Read more

Cello Electronics LCD TV that can record onto SD cardsThe british LCD TV company Cello Electronics has announced the first television with the abillity to record onto SD cards. Usually, TVs with a built in recorder, records onto a harddrive. The TV is available in 22-inch, 26-inch and 32-inch sizes with two TV tuners, two SD slots and an integrated DVD player. The TVs have a 16:9 display with 1440 x 900 resolution which unfortunately doesn't support Full HD and the TVs has no HDMI connectivity. On November 3, Forrest Gump will be released as a Sapphire Series Blu-ray and there are more movies to come. SX2462W is a 24" monitor with a 1920 x 1200 pixels resolution, a 850:1 contrast ratio, 5ms response time and the capabillity of reproducing 98% of the RGB colours. The display can be rotated 90 degrees which will make reading of longer documents easier. It will be available in black or white and have connectabillity via both two DVI-ports or one Display Port. Survey shows that Blu-ray interest remains lukewarm despite high spreading of HDTVs

Blu-ray discsDespite the fact that 33% of the U.S. population owns atleast one HDTV, the interest for Blu-ray remains lukewarm. According to a survey by Harris Interactive, just 7% of the 2401 asked U.S. adults own a Blu-ray player. 9% own a Sony Playstation 3 which plays Blu-rays. Earlier reports has shown that Blu-ray player sales has increased 72% since the last year, but according to this survey, it has still not exploded.
The biggest reason the participants in the survey doesn't buy as much Blu-ray movies as DVDs is because they're waiting for the prices to come down. "Blu-ray also faces competition from alternative technologies such as cable, satellite and the Internet", says Milton Ellis, Harris Interactive Technology. Read more

Candela CPLV215WDG2 21.5-inch Full HD LCD TVCandela has introduced three new LCD TV models; CPLV215WDG2, CPLV185WDG2, and CPLV15.4WDG2.
The CPLV215WDG2 is a 21.5-inch LCD TV which supports Full HD resolution, has a contrast ratio of 1000:1, a brightness of 300cd/m2 and a responsetime of 5ms. The sceen comes with two built-in speakers and will have a price tag starting at 46 800 Yens ($ 486 USD).

The CPLV185WDG2 is a 18.5-inch LCD TV with almost the same specifications as the 21.5-inch model, but with a resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels instead of Full HD. The 18.5-inch model will have a starting price tag of 42 800 Yens ($ 445 USD).

The CPLV15.4WDG2 is a 15.4-inch LCD TV with a resolution of 1440 x 900 pixels, a brightness of 250cd/m2, a contrast ratio of 400:1 and a response time of 16ms. The 15.4-inch model will have a price tag starting at 34 800 Yens ($ 362 USD). Read more

Microsoft has announced that their upcoming media player Zune HD is powered by Nvidia's Tegra computing platform. Zune HD may be the first Tegra-powered device when it hits the market later this year. Nvidia's Tegra allows Microsoft's Zune HD to play high-definition video in 720p and to be connected to a HDTV for a bigger image, something that the biggest competitor, Apple's iPod Touch cannot offer. ContourHD 720p helmet cam is now released

VholdR ContourHD's wearable HD 720p cam has now been released and available for sale at Amazon for $299.99 USD. The wearable camera shoots in 720p at 30fps and in WVGA (858 x 480) at 60fps. The video can be recorded in the H.264 codec format. VholdR calls ContourHD the first HD wearable camcorder. Panasonic's 85-inch plasma has the screen size of four 42-inch panels and is big enough to show a person in full size when installed vertically, still it is only 99 mm thick. The display will support LAN control and the possibility of adding up to three different terminal boards, such as DVI and Dual Link HD-SDI.  The 85-inch weighs approximately 130 kg and is designed for professional users. Sharp announces BD-HP22H, an environmentally-friendly Blu-ray player

Sharp BD-HP22H Blu-ray playerSharp has announced a new Blu-ray player with the model name BD-HP22H, which is supposed to be enviromentally friendly. The BD-HP22H will only consume 20W of power while playing and 0.7 W when in standby mode. Despite its low power consumption, the BD-HP22H offers 7.1 surround sound with DTS-HD Master Audio and Dolby TrueHD as well as Internet access with BD-Live. Sharp's BD-HP22H will be available in June 2009 with a price tag starting at $325 USD. Read more

SANYO PDG-DET100JL and LP-WTC500L projectorsSANYO has released their latest High-resolution video projectors with high brightness; PDG-DET100JL and LP-WTC500L. The PDG-DET100JL is a black projector with a SXGA+ (1400 x 1050) resolution and a brightness of 7500 lumens. The LP-WTC500L is a white projector with Wide-XGA (1280 x 800) resolution and a brightness of 5000 lumens. Both projectors features a "Picture-in-Picture" and "Picture-by-Picture"-mode for projecting two images simultaneously. LG releases the first HDTVs that stream instantly to Netflix members

LG has released the industry's first HDTVs with Netflix instant streaming software embedded directly in the TV, requiring no external device. The TVs available now are one 47-inch Full HD LCD TV with the model name 47LH50, and a 50-inch plasma HDTV with the model name 50PS80. A 42-inch LCD TV with the model name 42LH50 and a 60-inch plasma model name 60PS80 are coming this summer.

The Netflix library offers more than 12 000 movies and TV episodes available for instant playback within 30 seconds after choosing titles in a queue. These features are available with a broadband connection and a monthly Netflix subscription of $8.99 USD. LG's 47LH50 and 50PS80 also includes Yahoo! PlayStation Network expands with Video delivery service

PlayStation Network logoSony has announced major enhancements to PlayStation Network by offering a Video Delivery service. The service will offer the users content from 16 partners in Hollywood, anime and sports to download and watch on-the-go. The video delivery service will have nearly 1900 movies and 9400 TV episodes. Users will be able to watch Standard Definition (SD) on their PSP or Playstation 3 and High Definition content on the Playstation 3, as more than 35% of the movies in the delivery service are in HD. ASUS 24T1E is a LCD display with a built-in TV tuner which features Full HD resolution and is supposed to deliver what ASUS calls unpararelled performance and exceptional versatility.

ASUS Essentio CM is a Personal Entertainment Center which offers the user to play HD DVDs and Blu-ray discs in Full HD resolution.

Panasonic HDC-SD10 camcorderPanasonic has released two of what they call the world's lightest high definition camcorders; the HDC-SD10 and the HDC-TM10. Panasonic's HDC-SD10 uses a SD memory card as a recording media and the HDC-TM10 uses twin memory recording with both a built-in 8 GB memory and SD memory for storage. Both cameras weighs just 0,5 pounds and features 16X optical zoom and recording in Full HD 1920x1080 pixels. The cameras also have a function called "Optical Image Stabilizer" or "O.I.S." which minimizes the hand-shake when zooming. Studios join up with Epix for HD movie streaming

EpixThe studios Paramount, MGM and Lionsgate have joined up together with Epix to deliver high-definition streaming versions of Hollywood movies before they're available on DVD. The service is called Epix and is a free, Flash-based player that dynamically scales the stream based on the available bandwith. Epix will deliver movies in 720p for free and without any advertisement, but it won't be open to the public in the same ways as Hulu or Youtube. Epix will instead be available as a value-add service for cable companies and ISP:s. Partnerships that is most likely to offer Epix are operators and services like At & T and Verizon. Read more

A flexible OLED screenA new advance by researchers at Arizona State University's Flexible Display Center (FDC) and at Universal Display have made a more affordable mass-production of flexible OLED displays a reality. The researchers have made flexible OLED displays by using processes and tools that are used to make today's LCD flatscreens.

OLEDs can be printed on plastic and worn on wrists or on clothing which will be a interesting feature as the production now may be cheaper. Sony, LG and Samsung has unveiled small flexible prototypes over the last years but they are very expensive because the process have been expensive. Read more

Averlogic's transmitter for HDMI streaming over powerlinesAverlogic demonstrated a technology at Computex 2009 which enables HDMI streaming over powerlines. The setup is based on two products which will later be sold by other retailers than Averlogic themselvses; a transmitter and a reciever. The transmitter contains three HDMI inputs and one output, as well as one component video and composite video input. The smaller reciever is put where you want to recieve the HDMI signal and has one HDMI output as well as component and composite video. The HDMI signal is then streamed over the powerlines in your house and it's also possible to stream by the boxes built in Ethernet ports.
The setup will support streaming of video up to 1920x1080 pixels in either 60i or 24p together with a 5.1-channel AC3 audio. Read more

JVC GD-32X1 ultra thin LCD TVJVC has announced a new LCD TV that has the thinness of a OLED screen despite it is a LCD with its ultra thin 6.4 mm. SANYO has anounced a new surveillance camera with the name VCC-HD4000P. The camera has a resolution of 4 Megapixels (2288x1712 pixels) and achieves a resolution approximately 9 times that of a conventional camera. This will allow the user to cover a larger monitoring area and catch the thief in High Definition. VCC-HD4000P also features a Full HD compatible 10x AF zoom lens, 16X optical zoom, storage slots for saving images on SD card or an external hard drive and codec support for H.264 and 2288x1712 JPEGs. Nvidia shows up Tegra, promising 1080p video and 25-day music

Nvidia's Tegra was debuted inside a dozen of Mobile Internet Devices at Computex 2009. Tegra is described by a computer-on-a-chip with something called a "heterogeneous multiprocessor architecture". A CPU runs the HTML and Java, an HD video processor makes streaming HD video playback possible and a GPU (Graphics Processing Unit) for a nice user interface and for Flash acceleration. Tegra is a response to today's relatively underpowered Mobile Internet Devices. Tegra has a relatively high computation power to its power draw and is advertised as being capable of: Listening to music for 25 days on one charge or watching 1080p video for 10 hours or playing video games at 46 fps. Pioneer announces Blu-ray player for professionals

Pioneer BDP-V6000 Blu-ray playerPioneer has announced a Blu-ray player with the model name BDP-V6000, which is aimed to be used by professionals such as museums, video walls, houses of worship and public displays. The BDP V6000 has enhanced search options which allows the user to navigate through a Blu-ray disc's title, chapter and time code menus faster and easier. It is according to Pioneer also one of world's first industrial Blu-ray disc players with BD-Live, which allows the user to download new video content to the player without having to remaster a BD disc. Pioneer's BDP-V6000 has no official price tag yet, but it's expected to be released in September 2009.


Pioneer also announced a new video system called HD-V9000 that reads SD-cards for faster High Definition playback. Pioneer HD-V9000 doesn't neither have a price tag yet, but is expected to be available in the 1st quarter of 2010.

Microsoft announces Netflix queue and 1080p video store fore Xbox 360

Netflix on Xbox 360Today, Microsft announced at E3 (The Electronic Entertainment Expo in U.S.A.), that the Xbox 360 version of the video service Netflix soon will have a queue-function and the device will also have a video store with 1080p movies. The queue-function means that the user won't have to queue up movies via a laptop and the video store's name is the "Zune store" and will have 1080p streaming. What's great with all this is that the services will finally be available outside the U.S.To stream Full HD video from the video store, Microsoft recomends that you have a download speed of atleast 8 Mbits/s.
