A new version of HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface) has been announced; HDMI 1.4. The new version has integreated Ethernet networking (10/100 Mb/s), support for bigger screen sizes and resolutions higher than 1080p, such as 3K by 2K (3840×2160 pixels) and 4K by 2K (4096×2160 pixels). 4K by 2K is enough resolution to transmit two 1080p images, allowing the technology to support stereoscopic 3D.
