According to a report from In-Stat, HDMI is gaining adoption over DVI. HDMI (High Definition Multimedia Interface) is growing as DVI is gradually declining, especially in the PC segment. HDMI has doubled its penetration from 6.1 % in 2007 to 12.3 % in 2008, as well as increasing mobile PCs with HDMI with 76% over that period.
HDMI-enabled product shipments are expected to increase with an annual rate of 20.3 % through 2013 where as DVI-enabled product shipments are expected to decrease with an annual rate of 8.1 % through 2013.
The next area of growth for HDMI is expected to be i portable consumer electronics products, such as camcorders, still cameras and portable media players. Source: Businesswire
